About 155 kilograms of wood that has been recycled from our Enel Generación Costanera plant is being used to make furniture that fills different spaces used by boys from the Garrahan House.
This is a Shared Value Creation project that involves students of the Technical Institute July 13, children of the Garrahan House and workers of the thermal plant, whose purpose is to make a contribution to education and health, since favor the environment and sustainability.
Circular economy
This circular economy action allows everyone to obtain benefits: the students of the last year of the technical school carry out their professional carpentry practices and at the same time contribute to the community; children with health problems and vulnerable situations living in the Garrahan House use this furniture to carry out school activities or play with safe utensils, and, finally, the plant itself creates and disseminates the awareness of recycling among its workers, all Once it contributes to its surroundings.
How does it materialize?
* The wood is recycled and sent from Enel Generación Costanera to the educational institution.
* The students of the 13 de Julio Institute receive the lag wood in good condition and manufacture the furniture throughout their year of study.
* The coordinators of the Garrahan House, after evaluating their available spaces, make a list of the furniture they need so that the children can carry out their activities.
* The real estate is sent to the Garrahan House in three deliveries, according to the agreement.
Additionally, this alliance improves the conditions in which children from other provinces in vulnerable situations are housed in the Garrahan House, favors the labor insertion of students who finish their technical studies and avoids the production of waste, transforming them into an input that generates value for the community.
