Through our distributor Edesur, we participated in the Disfam solidarity lunch, an organization dedicated to supporting people with dyslexia. This meeting not only strengthened our alliance with Disfam but also allowed us to reaffirm our commitment to inclusion and awareness about dyslexia.
Dyslexia is a neurological condition that affects people's ability to read fluently, accurately, and automatically. It is a condition that accompanies life, but with the appropriate strategies, it is possible to overcome the associated challenges.
We firmly believe in creating a more inclusive and accessible environment for all. For this reason, our distributor Edesur began to use the Comic Sans font in its communications, since it is more accessible for people with dyslexia. The letters have distinctive, rounded shapes, making it easier to differentiate between characters and improving readability.
Along these lines, we share the life stories of people with dyslexia. The testimonies illustrate the importance of early diagnosis, family support, and appropriate strategies.
First testimony
Lorena Ré, Ivanka, and Mathei's mother, noticed very early on that something different was happening with her children compared to the rest of their classmates.
Ivanka and Mathei have dyslexia, and from a very young age, family support became a key pillar for their learning. Their mother highlights that knowing the diagnosis was essential since it allowed them to put into words what was happening and find the appropriate strategies to support their children.
“Today, Ivanka and Mathei are advancing their education with confidence, thanks to the understanding and supportive environment they find at home and in the educational community.”
Second testimony
In second grade, Gaspar Tisi's parents noticed signs in his learning that indicated something was not right. This was the beginning of a long road to being diagnosed with dyslexia.
The family emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis to be able to reverse difficult situations and minimize the suffering of children with dyslexia.
“Thanks to a timely diagnosis, Gaspar was able to access the resources and support necessary to improve his reading and writing skills.”
Third testimony
Lisandro had difficulties interpreting reading and writing since his childhood, but it was not until 2003 that he finally learned his diagnosis of dyslexia.
Throughout his life, he experienced many emotional ups and downs due to his condition. However, thanks to sports and different tools that he incorporated over time, he learned to plan his life at his own pace, without comparing himself to others.
“Lisandro highlights the importance of finding and using strategies that work for each person, as well as the need for a strong support system to overcome the challenges of dyslexia.”
Fourth testimony
In first grade, Maximiliano's parents detected difficulties in his learning that were not common among his classmates. Thanks to an early consultation, the child was able to receive a diagnosis of dyslexia and begin psycho-pedagogical treatment, which was crucial for his development.
“Today, their parents recommend that all families who suspect dyslexia in their children have early consultations. ”
We are committed to continuing to work collaboratively with organizations like Disfam to promote inclusion. We believe it is essential to share life stories to raise awareness about dyslexia.
