The Compañía de Transmisión del Mercosur S. A. (CTM) and the Transportadora de Energía S. A. (TESA), together with the Companhía de Interconexão Energética (CIEN) of Brazilalso owned by Grupo Enel are part of the interconnection link of the Electrical Energy Transmission Systems in the countries of Argentina and Brazil in the Argentine Northeast.
The installations of each are made up of a 500 Kv line, 135 Km long, from the "Rincón de Santa María”, in the province of Corrientes, to the frequency converter station from 50 Hz to 60 Hz in the District of Garabí, Brazil.
The total length of the transmission lines is 270, and each has a transport capacity of 1000 Mw.
All companies have a unique activity consisting in the exclusive service of electrical energy transportation for international interconnection through the first and second system.
They are currently controlled by the Companhía de Interconexão Energética (“CIEN”), a company incorporated in Brazil.
